Running The
Hammer Shad

The HammerShad’s 4” size creates a crossover lure for Muskie, Pike, Bass & others.  It is a sinking, lipless crankbait that can be fished a variety of ways.

  1. Over shallow water reefs and weeds, it is often most productive to simply cast & crank with a quick retrieve which will keep it shallow & give the HammerShad a hard, tight vibrating action.  Thicker gauge lines will also aid in making the lure run shallower.
  2. When fish are more sluggish, this same lure can be worked slow & very tight to the bottom by casting it out and letting it sink all the way to the bottom. The nose of the bait will almost be sitting at a 90° angle. Then go with a pump & drop action to walk the bait across the bottom.
